Golden Chip Roulette is based on the European version of the game and has been designed and developed by Yggdrasil, so it looks and sounds fantastic.
There is only one main difference between this game and the regular version, and that is the internal multiplier wheel that denotes your payout for straight up wins.
In all other areas the game rules and payouts are exactly the same, so this is all about taking a chance on enhanced payouts on the hardest bets to win.
It’s an RNG based game too, so there is no human element and the pace of play can be dictated by the player.
The Golden Chip
Any chip that you place on a single number automatically becomes a golden chip. The normal 35:1 payout for these bets has been abolished, and instead is decided by the spin of a multiplier wheel which sits inside the regular wheel.
You see it is currently resting on 50x in our example image above.
Once the spin button is pressed, this multiplier wheel will spin and settle on either:
- 10x
- 25x
- 50x
- 75x
- 100x
- 250x
- 500x
As you can see, only two of these potential outcomes give a smaller payout than the regular 35:1 for a straight up, five of them pay out much higher amounts; but there are very few occurrences of the higher multipliers on the wheel, so it’s not as simple as a 5 in 1 chance of getting a better payout.
Then the roulette wheel will spin and the ball will be released as normal.
After the result is announced your winnings will be shown as ‘Regular win’ and ‘Golden chip win’ as you can see in the image on the right. You can also see the total win.
This saves confusion as any regular bets placed alongside straight ups/single numbers have regular payouts and are not affected by the multiplier wheel.
RTP
The theoretical return to player percentage on all bets except straight ups is the regular 97.30%, because the game has not been changed at all in these areas.
All straight up bets (or Golden Chip bets) actually have a slightly lower RTP of 96.80%, so you are essentially gambling on getting a higher multiplier as well as your bet coming in for these.
It’s a trade off; a lower RTP for the chance to win much larger amounts of money than normal. Of course, the chances of the 500x coming in and you landing a winning straight up bet are very slim.
